We are all constantly eating at my house and I’ve been getting questions about healthy snacks. I have compiled a few of our current favorites. These are all simple, yet delicious and nourishing.
Yogurt Bowls
We are currently loving our afternoon yogurt bowls. Siggi’s is my new favorite yogurt because it is so thick and creamy, plus the ingredients are minimal. Today I used vanilla yogurt and topped it with our 3 ingredient snack bars (I added 2 tsp of cacao powder to the bar pictured), blackberries, frozen mango, raw pumpkin seeds, and chia seeds. Both pumpkin and chia seeds are full of omega-3 fatty acids and other goodies. Basically, I start with good yogurt and toss in fruits, nuts or seeds, and other goodies we have around the house. You can also do a savory version with veggies. So much yum.
Toast
I have been experimenting with different types of toast lately because it’s easy and oh so good! I’m loving sprouted whole grain bread because it improves digestion and is full of vitamins and minerals. Toast 1 is avocado, Wildbrine kimchi, and a hard boiled egg. I also love this one with a runny egg when I’m not sharing with the babes. Toast 2 is mashed sweet potato, bananas, maple syrup, and cinnamon. This is one of Birdie’s faves.
Ant on a log
I was surprised when the hubs had never heard of this snack. I used to eat this all the time as a kid! Chop up some celery and add almond butter and dried cranberries. I like to pair this with banana and beet chips. I always pick up veggie chips in the bulk section because it is less expensive than the bagged stuff.
Fruit and nut butter
Can you tell that we love almond butter? I’m pretty sure we pair fruits and almond butter every day.
These are just a few of the snacks we enjoy at my casa. Don’t fret, the kids still get their fair share of cheddar bunnies! What are some of your favorite healthy snacks?
